Empowering Mums to be the Best Versions of Themselves

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I am very conscious of planning my week to enable the time needed for work and family time. Schedules definitely work for me and help minimise the overwhelm. That way, if I am at work, I can be fully there, and if I’m with the kids, whether that’s at home or their sporting commitments, I can be fully present with them too!

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Oh there are so many personal challenges to overcome when trying to start your own business. Where do I even start???

Limiting beliefs, the fear of failure, barriers that come up around the fear of judgments from others, anxiety … and they are just the ones in my head.

Don’t forget about the social media or other technology challenges, doing tax, admin or other parts of business that don’t come as naturally to you or just don’t light you up.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Definitely more pros than cons for me. I get to create my day/week on my terms and what works for me. I don’t miss the kids’ special school events and I can work from home when the kids are sick. PLUS, I absolutely love what I do so I don’t even feel like I’m working.

What’s that saying? “Find what you love to do and get paid to do it, then you never work a day in your life again” … IT’S TOTALLY TRUE!

The biggest con is that I don’t have a regular ‘salary’ and some months are better than others. But once you creative a business/marketing plan, you can definitely set it up so you can generate a regular stream of income. Another con is that until you start to generate the income you need, you have to do all parts of the business – even the parts that you don’t like. BUT, there is light at the end of the tunnel – once it’s possible, you can hire a virtual assistant and get them to do the parts that you don’t enjoy or are just not that great at.

Oh and one more con: if something doesn’t work out, you don’t have anyone else to blame it on. Haha!

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Just to continue to change the world, one women at a time!
